Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Department, Zarin Zia has said that the provincial government has launched project for imparting kitchen gardening and value addition for women in the province. The two-year project will cost Rs 50 million. She was addressing on the occasion of the inauguration of one-week training workshop on Kitchen Gardening and Value Addition for women agricultural officers here in Agriculture University on Thursday. The parliamentary secretary said that 70% population of the country is based on agriculture.

Therefore, she said that sans the active role of women, the desired target of development and production could not be achieved in agriculture. She stressed on women agriculture scientists and experts to take maximum benefits of the concerned training program and arranged training programs for kitchen gardening and value addition of fruits and vegetables to enable economically weak women to play role in earning livelihood for their families.

Highlighting details of the training program, Principal, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Kamal Din and Director Training, Fazalur Rehman told that under the project more than 4000 women will be imparted training in kitchen gardening and value addition through these trainee officers.
